Do Patrick Kane and Leif Garrett Look Alike? and Other Random Thoughts

What do you think?

I now figured out what drives me nuts about Patrick Kane.  He looks like Leif Garrett.

What do you think?

On other notes, what is it with the NHL having the Winter Classic in Fenway Park and why don’t fans complain about this blatant lack of concern for their comfort or their pocket books?  Just like in Wrigley Field, the fans will be nowhere near the ice and in fact will be even further away because of the Green Monster in left field.  I’m sure Boston College has an outdoor stadium, or  MIT perhaps?

Thoughts?

It’s the money. Bottom line. In my eyes, the only thing that bettman has done for this league is help the owners make more money, yet continue to lose viewers and fan bases. As a business man, he is particularly savvy and cunning. That’s why he got the job. But his lack of insight into the actual game of hockey has done more harm than good for the game itself. From imposing rules to supposedly make the game more exciting and higher scoring, to completely losing contracts with the major networks, he has done little to nothing for us, the fans. Well, he, is making us pay more to watch the game. Be it through higher ticket prices or having to pay a little extra to get a network that actually carries hockey.

I could go on and on about this man, but I won’t. I think to really show how utterly ridiculous some of these rule changes are (the smaller goalie pads comes to mind right away followed closely by that stupid ass shape behind the net), we should look at the scoring in the league. When was the last time that anyone came CLOSE to hitting the 200 point mark? TWENTY YEARS AGO. Before the “new” rules.

Alright, I’ll get off my soap box now, haha!

Jake, I totally agree with you! Great observation on the 200 point mark. Stay on your soapbox, bro – you’re on a roll!!!

Hell, in that case, here’s one of my most favorite articles: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=Avk0fZ5dI.XZpNREdEFpZ2RQ2bYF?slug=dw-bettman012907&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

The article is almost three years old, but it makes for a very interesting read. Though most of what is written is open for interpretation and whether it is fact or not, it really makes you stop and think: was our league sabotaged on purpose?!

What a great article, Jake! Thanks for the read. I’d love to see some numbers on scoring pre/post Bettman. Something needs to be done with regards to points for shootouts/overtime and I also would like to see the schedule change so that we see more Montreal and Boston in Chicago instead of Columbus every other day.
